The Orchard is 3. 3 acres, it is fenced to a height of 4 foot on 2 sides with thick impenetrable hedgerow behind it to a height of 12 foot and the other 2 sides are fenced to a height of 6 feet. It is in Arlingham in Gloucester, it is surrounded by arable land and is very peaceful, located down a dead end road with the occasional passing tractor. The thick hedgerow means pretty much complete privacy! And its location means it is incredibly peaceful, no busy roads or railways near it!
The orchard is beautiful and stimulating for dogs and owners but also full of wildlife. Everything I do in my fields is to encourage nature to thrive, and give dogs a wonderful off lead experience
In the wetter months the natural pond is full and the dogs love to swim in it or just paddle to cool down.....
In the summer the tin bath is kept full so the dogs can still have a cool down
In the summer months the pond dries up and becomes a nice cool cave!
The orchard is ridge and furrow and gives the dogs lots of entertainment jumping from the ridges across the water filled furrows in the winter! The ridge and furrow also encourages a huge variety of different plants to grow. I leave most of the orchard wild, giving lots of interest for the dogs and encouraging a huge mount of insect and bird life!
The orchard also has a selection of herbs and plants that are beneficial to a dogs health and well being....
Moose in the Chamomile, it helps relax him
Lots of herbs but my favourite wild flower growing in the orchard is Fleabane.
Fleabane is a natural flea repellent and it grows everywhere in my orchard!
The orchard has old and new trees and these provide shade for you and your dogs on the hot summer days. There are several seating areas if you just want to relax a while under an apple tree.
Providing a safe place to exercise and train your dog.
The orchard also has tyres, straw bales and logs made for my farmyard agility course!
The Orchard is rented out for exercise at a rate of £9 for
an hour, this is for you and up to 3 of your own dogs. Any additional dogs will be charged at £3 per dog.
If you wish to take other people and their dogs to the orchard they will also need to fill in paperwork.
The gate will be locked with a combination lock and this will be changed daily. On the day you have booked you will need to text me and get the days combination from me.
A beautiful morning mist over the orchard
Sunset at the orchard.... 2 barn owls hunt in here just before sundown most evenings
3.3 acres of peace and quiet for you and 3.3 acres of exploring for your dogs.
Straw bales for humans or dogs to rest on!
WHAT PEOPLE SAY!
I have been using the Orchard for just over a year and have now been to the new secure field. Both are amazing and you can exercise your dogs in a very relaxed and peaceful environment - no worries about large dogs running up to other people or them escaping to other fields or onto roads. Can’t recommend this enough. Pamela
Have been using the orchards for the past couple of years and what a wonderful place to exercise your dogs! Lovely countryside, far from the madding crowd! John
Having a fast saluki cross whippet we have been nervous about letting Milly run free and we have found Celine's field ideal. Today she enjoyed running around in the cut area then we went along paths cut through the long grass. Every so often because she lost sight of us she came back to find me, very encouraging. I only had to call and whistle a couple of times when she lost me. After 50 minutes I was calling and calling and found she had gone back to Nick and was in the car totally worn out. Diane
Finding safe space to exercise our dogs ‘off-lead’ – especially those with ‘uncertain pasts’, who lack any initial training - is a problem. Having greyhounds and lurchers, for me and some of my dogs, finding Celine’s Orchard, was life-changing. Most especially for two boys, who had previously spent over seven years together in total social isolation in a rural kennel, and who found the big wide world all too difficult. At the Orchard, they could run and play with my older dogs, yet jump back into the car for five minutes, if noise from farm traffic or passing walkers was alarming. They gradually gained confidence and it completely changed their lives.
I can’t exactly define what makes it a special place. One can drive in, lock the gate, let the dogs run, work through some exercises, or just sit and watch them investigate in their own way. The advantages are obvious and the quiet, timeless atmosphere of the space has been sensitively enhanced by Celine’s management and her unobtrusive dedication to making sure that standards are maintained by clients. But it is more than just a beautiful, peaceful old orchard; it has an aura which enables you and your dogs – some of whom may have had a traumatic past - to re-energise. Whether you need a safe space for them to run and play, or to use the interesting, natural facilities for some individual agility training – or simply an hour away from an ‘increasingly mad world’ to redress the balance of your mind and soul, as well as theirs - then a session at the Orchard is the best place to start. Mxx
Beautiful location. Great space for our dogs to run full pelt or just mooch around smelling the flowers. They especially love the little pond. Seats and tables for the humans. Alex
Working for a small animal charity this means our gorgeous rehomers get a new environment to roam and run off lead in. They absolutely LOVE the orchard and we feel absolutely privileged here at Teckels Animal Sanctuaries that we have this amazing space to take our fur babies
The Orchard is fantastic! It means my no recall terrier and reactive GSD get a stress free off lead run. They get excited the minute we’re turn into the lane and they know where they’re going! Great facility, highly recommend it xx
We recently used the secure field a few times for our two dogs (one fear reactive and one with zero recall) whilst on holiday in the area. It was absolutely fantastic and the dogs (and us!) loved it. We've used a few different secure fields before - they are often flat, square and (honestly) a little bit boring. The Orchard at Arlingham however was super interesting and we had no issues filling every minute of our hour there. Trees, hedges, long grass, short grass, hay bails, ups and downs - all meant our dogs were massively stimulated and exhausted by the end. We'll be coming back for sure. Thanks Celine!
I use Celines' delightful orchard for my reactive dog so that we can both enjoy some freedom without worrying about interference from other dogs and their owner...s. It feels like such a special place to be and allows us to be completely relaxed. Dills enjoys sniffing in the grass, usually finding a toy treasure! He also indulges me, by doing a bit of agility on the rustic agility set up. All in keeping of the charm of this orchard. Dills and I love it
Celine's orchard is the perfect place for hounds and humans! We use it weekly so that our rescue hounds can have a free run about, with no worry of escape or 'greetings' from other dogs. Lovely setting with lots of different areas for the dogs to explore, including a seasonal pond. A wonderful hour spent every week being able to have a relaxing walk with our happy hounds
We love using the dog field! We are a family with a naughty (but loveable) dog so we love the secureness of the field. She loves exploring and seeing all the new things in the field, every time we go she discovers a new area to play! Her favourite is the pond when the weather has been wet
My 2 crazy lurchers and 2 crazy children love the freedom and space they get at Celine's orchard. It's totally secure which is a must for sighthound owners!
The orchard is just WOW! I love taken my dogs down there, it's a secure large area I can let my dogs run without the worry of any unwanted dogs coming up to us. My dogs favourite area is the pond to cool of after he has ran wild.
I have booked and used the orchard on several occassions and it has been a godsend especially as I could not trust Billy off the lead and for several weeks I was post surgical operation convalescing. In the orchard, which is well fenced, Billy could run his little Queen Anne legs off safely and give me a chance to relax and watch him enjoying being a proper little dog. I can pretty well trust Billy off lead now but will still book the orchard as it is a really relaxing place to spend an hour, just you, your best mate and nature.
NEW FIELD COMING IN MAY 2018
The new field is a project and I will be planting 3 acres as orchard, 3 acres as native woodland and hoping to dig an acre out as a large pond...I am also hoping in the next few years to plough and acre to grow veg....Each time you use the field the money will go towards planting new trees and providing shelter, nesting and a food source for wildlife!
This will happen over the next few years as I've missed the tree planting season this year.
Stunning views from the new field
The new field is in Arlingham not far from Stroud and Gloucester
Gateway under construction....the end of the field is that hedgerow in far distance
Feasting table for you to watch your dogs run or to enjoy a cup of tea and picnic
My dog Mr Moose loves the new field!
Beautiful old willow that gives some shade in the summer
My lovely Lurchers posing in the field
